Jasmine’s Story
Jasmine is being supported through the work of Cornerstone Trust, a ministry funded by Blythswood Care that helps women and children trapped in the red-light district of Mumbai, India.
Cornerstone Trust’s woman and child development centre provides practical support, counsel and education for these vulnerable women and children. Jasmine has learning difficulties and receives remedial education from Cornerstone Trust. When lockdown hit the city’s economy, Jasmine’s mum had no money to buy food. The support of people like you meant that Cornerstone workers were able to provide her family with food and support.
The lifestyle of the trafficked women leaves their children open to possible malnutrition. Our partners at Cornerstone Trust help them to have at least one balanced meal a day. They also teach the women healthy food preparation, and quick-to-cook recipes, which will benefit them, with their children.
Children growing up in the red-light areas are vulnerable to second-generation trafficking, so we aim, through education, to give the women the confidence and skills to leave their lifestyle and provide a better future for them and their children.
